Sigma Nu Sweeps Grand Chapter Convention
Summer 2010 was a great one in regard to Epsilon Epsilon! At this years Grand Chapter, we were awarded several honors including "Rock Chapter", LEAD Facilitator of the year, multiple Alpha Affiliates, etc. The honor of "Rock Chapter" is an award that is given to the top 2% of all Sigma Nu chapters every two years. It is a very special and highly regarded award in which we are humbled and honored to receive.
Our LEAD chairman from last year and current Marshall, Michael Sloan, helped Ep Ep out tremendously as we were awarded Excellence in LEAD Phase I, II, III, and All Chapter LEAD. Continuing his performance, he was then awarded LEAD Facilitator of the year.
Alumni Bob O'Neal and Kyle Andrews were awarded Alpha Affiliation which goes to the top 10 graduating seniors nationwide--an honor that Epsilon Epsilon can claim more members of than any other Sigma Nu chapter!
Following these awards, we received the Manpower Award--for recruitment and retainment and Excellence in Personal Development and Membership Value.
More exciting developments from this summer--several brothers were elected to serve in leadership roles of the Sigma Nu headquarters. Charlie Eitel is the Regent Elect, meaning he will be serving as the next "CEO" and head of Sigma Nu for the following five years. Joe Francis will be the Vice President of Sigma Nu. Mark McClure is appointed as one of four Collegiate Grand Councilmen to sit on the High Council to represent over 9500 active brothers nationwide. Neil Gilpin is the next Grand Marshall for the 2012 Grand Chapter in Dallas. Finally, Brother, Alumnus, and Senator Tom Coburn is inducted into the Sigma Hall of Fame!
All-in-all it is a great time to be an OSU Sigma Nu. We are representing our ideals, history, and membership well locally, regionally, and nationally. We hope to continue our role as a leader of Sigma Chapters across America by being active students on campus, retaining the best members, and honoring all Alumni.
Sigma Nu Involved on Campus
Over the past year, several Sigma Nus have been extremely involved in the leadership on campus. Specifically five brothers were honored at this year's President's Leadership and Service Recognition Reception. Brother and President of OSU Burns Hargis, Kent Sampson, and Mark Weiser were all in attendance. Receiving honors for PLC Senior Facilitators were Brothers Kyle Andrews and Bob O'Neal. Receiving honors for outstanding leadership and service on campus were brothers David McKellips for chairing Toys to the Game and Brent Harkrider for co-chairing Take a Kid to the Game--both brothers were on the SGA executive council this year as well. Receiving honors from Camp Cowboy was brother Jayson Boswell. His work in chairing Camp Cowboy made the all-summer long camp successful and fun this year. Good job to the brotherhood of Sigma Nu this year, and I hope we can continue our strong leadership and service capabilities on campus for years to come!
